Toasty Arbol Chile Salsa Review

4 stars (on a 5 star scale)
p. 156-157

Definitely toasty and quite spicy. (The spiciness mostly comes as an aftershock.) Besides toasty and spicy, it's hard to describe.

The recipe also suggested baking chicken with it and mangoes to make a main course. I tried that too.

  • this is one of my favorites--quite spicy! i'd eaten this salsa for many years in mexico but never realized it was arboles and tomatillos. diana kennedy has the same recipe on page 344 of "the art of mexican cooking".
